Finding Aloha 2, a film based around surfers, surfing scenes all over the world, is currently looking for music throughout the film. Finding Aloha 2 will feature at least one song by a Sonicbids artist. While the location and distribution of this sequel are currently being worked on, their goal is to have it distributed worldwide. The film mainly focuses on pro surfers, but will also have other guests.

Accepted genres include rock, alternative, melodic rock, and instrumentals. This is a documentary film sequel (the first one was based in Hawaii and the way of life) and this will focus more on the way of life worldwide, including the lifestyles of surfers. They are currently looking for artists that want exposure through the film, as there is no compensation. All artists will get credit and a copy of the film.

Winners will be played on Fuse On Demand, which is available in millions of homes across the US as part of the free on demand offering from cable carriers like Comcast, Cox, Cablevision, and FiOS, as well as Verizon VCast and Joost, expanding our reach to the Mobile and Broadband worlds and putting your video in front of even more people.

Susan Sweeney and her musical family value the power of song, and designed the Write4Kids Song Competition to reach out to and empower our many American working poor families. Susan has "Been There"; she was once a single parent raising three children on just $25,000/year gross income as a Graphic Designer. She knows the daunting mountains of paperwork and red tape of our social service system -- each year in Florida alone, more than $2 Billion from programs created to help working poor families does not reach them. Susan founded SupportKidsNOW, a 501c3 nonprofit organization to help families efficiently and effectively find and access these nonprofit & Gov't Agency program benefits. Proceeds from this Competition go to SupportKidsNOW.

All Competition entries must be on the topics of inspiring/empowering songs of rising our of poverty, overcoming adversity, what it's like to live in poverty, families or children in financial distress, kids abandoned or kids empowered, written and/or co-written, recorded and performed by the entrant. The Envol et Macadam Festival is the only international urban festival in all of eastern Quebec entirely dedicated to alternative music. The festival is one of the major events held in Quebec City. The Iceland Airwaves festival is known for its intimacy and party spirit. The eleventh annual Iceland Airwaves festival will take place in various venues all over downtown Reykjavik during the week of October 14-18, 2009. Approximately 200 bands will perform.

Iceland Airwaves is looking for artists from all over the world to play at this year's festival. Iceland Airwaves has reserved 5 slots exclusively for Sonicbids artists:

Artists from other continents are also encouraged to submit. Iceland Airwaves has selected more than 20 Sonicbids artists in the last 2 years, including artists from Africa and Asia.

5,000 festival passes are sold each year with an additional 2,000 - 3,000 people purchasing day passes. That means that 7,000 - 8,000 people attend the festival per day! Also, since Iceland Airwaves is a showcase festival, it attracts hundreds of journalists and music industry professionals from around the world, especially from the US, UK, Scandinavia, Germany and France.

Iceland Airwaves 2009 will take place at 8 main concert venues in the center of Reykjavik - all in walking distance from another - with capacities ranging from 200 to 1,000. Then there is the 'off-venue program', taking place during the whole festival, from afternoon into the night, in selected record shops, bars, galleries and even a church.

Renowned for featuring only quality, up and coming and cutting-edge acts from around the globe, the Iceland Airwaves festival has featured performances by some of the best and brightest artists of today.

All types of music are booked, especially Alternative, Pop, Dance/Techno, Hip-Hop, etc. Typically, about 50 artists out of 170 are booked from outside of Iceland and Europe. WMSE's Radio Summer Camp 2009

Radio Summer Camp is the inaugural 4-day music festival held by WMSE 91.7FM in Milwaukee, Wisconsin featuring a mixture of great national touring artists mixed with the best Milwaukee has to offer.

WMSE has reserved slots for two Sonicbids bands:

A band with a handle on American/Roots/Alt-Country sound to be the opening act for Bill Kirchen and Joe Pug at Shank Hall (Saturday, August 22)

A real rocker. This second band should be loud in a post-punk leaning metal fashion.

Each of the two selected bands will receive $300 and a full meal/drinks on the night of the performance. Some confirmed bands one the national level are Justin Townes Earle, Joe Pug, Catfish Haven, Common Loon, the Wood Brothers and Frontier Folk Nebraska.

Both selected bands will also have the opportunity to play live in-studio at WMSE and receive a professionally recorded CD and Video of the session. Selected bands will be a part of a massive promotional effort that includes web, email, social network, print, brochure and poster/flier/postcard formats along with targeting local and national music blogs. The bands will also receive repeated on-air mentions.

WMSE will kick off Radio Summer Camp with a show at Turner Hall Ballroom on August 20, then six Milwaukee club venues will simultaneously host night time shows consisting of national and local artists on August 21 and 22. Also, on August 22, from 12-8 pm, the grounds of Cathedral Square will host a performance of national and local music talent called The Backyard BBQ. Americana (country, folk, bluegrass, etc.) music and culture will be the ambiance for this event.

Entertainment On Stage is currently searching for the best bands to be featured in their 2009 show schedule. They are currently accepting submissions from bands interested in playing on bigger stages and in a concert setting. The venues will be in the Charlotte, North Carolina (USA) region.

The submissions at this time are not for a specific show but rather consideration for events to come and
radio airplay for Market research.

A high quality demo CD that can be mailed out may be required if considered for future airplay opportunities. They have confirmed venues set up in the Charlotte, NC area as well. Today and everyday is a great day to think about and be thankful for Peace; and Peace Code Records is promoting Peace again this Summer. You can join them by being a participant in the 29th Annual Seattle Peace concert on August 9th at Gas Works Park from 12pm to 6pm. Peace Code Records in conjunction with the Seattle Peace organization seapeace.org brings the best of the Northwest talents and peaceful speakers together at the Lake Union Stage in Gasworks park for a free concert.

Seattle Peace Concerts' free summer park concert series, coordinated by Don Glenn since the early 80s, feature well established musicians and entertainers as well as some of the Northwest's best new artists. Musical styles reflect the diverse contemporary music scene here in the pacific northwest and beyond! - Rock, Pop, Reggae, R&B, Blues, Zydeco, Drum Groups, Choirs, Folk, World Beat, Jazz, and some stuff that defies labeling. These are family events. No alcohol!

Admission is free, however they encourage folks to bring food bank donations for Northwest Harvest and please contribute what you can when "The Bucket" comes around to help them cover expenses. Another way to support these events, and take home some of the best music performed at these events, is to purchase SPC Compilation Albums.

Seattle Peace Concerts and an amazing range of mostly local musicians and sponsors have kept free music going in the Seattle Parks. An attempt was made in the early eighties to ban Amplified Music, i.e. "Rock n' Roll", from the Seattle Parks because of the negative impact some of the events held at that time had on the parks and on the general community. Reason prevailed! For the past 28 years, to the credit of kind Seattle folk, they have maintained fantastic relations with their City Government, and the Seattle community in general, and now the parks look as good or better after these amazing concerts than before.

Good for Seattle! Good for the music! Good for Peace!

First Night Boston, the annual New Year's Eve celebration, will take place December 31, 2009 from 10 am to midnight in dozens of venues around the city of Boston. Running for over 30 years, last year's event drew hundreds of thousands of people and featured over 100 artists across 30 different stages.

First Night is mostly interested in local, regional or New England artists.

Each year hundreds of exhibitions and performances showcase the work of local, national and international artists. First Night Boston is now accepting submissions from Sonicbids artists for performance opportunities including:

The Family Festival at the Hynes Convention Center: Theater, juggling, acrobatics, music, storytelling, puppet performances and craft workshops.
The Grand Procession: Mardi Gras style procession including bands, large scale sculptures, giant puppets, masked and costumed dancers and samba bands.
Indoor Stages: Performances take place in venues with capacities ranging from 100 to 4,000 people. All genres of music, dance, theater, film and comedy are featured.
Outdoor Stages: Held in Copley Square and Boston Common, bands entertain huge crowds.
Visual Art: Site specific temporary sculptural installations in Copley Square, Boston Common, or other sites. A limited number of indoor exhibition options are also available.

Artists are compensated for their performance, with details to be negotiated at the time of booking.

The Fire Escape is a music venue in Kingsport, Tennessee, and they are actively seeking musicians and performance artists. A local draw is not necessary to be booked, but is preferable. Set lengths will be 30-60 minutes.

Typically, artists receive a split of the door, with two artists playing in a night. There is limited backline at the venue - a sound system, including vocal mics, monitors and a sound person is available. We will give you contact information of bands playing with you.

YorkFest is one of the largest welcome events held on any university or college campus across Canada. For many new students, YorkFest is the first glimpse of the many services and clubs York University has to offer. The event will be held on September 22nd & 23rd, 2009, and is currently accepting submissions from Canadian acts.Compensation for selected artists will be judged on a case-by-case basis but will range from $500-$1,000.

YorkFest's Festival Village area boasts over 200 spaces for clubs, services, companies, performing buskers and has a food and beer cafe. In the evening, YorkFest highlights a free concert for all York Students. Past performers have included Bif Naked, Big Sugar, The Watchmen, Staggered Crossing, I Mother Earth, Matthew Good, K-OS, Metric, Bedouin Soundclash and most recently STARS.

The largest free campus concert at York will be held at the Centre for Excellence, which is part of the Rexall Centre. The venue is indoors and can host over 4,000 students, staff and community members. They are looking to feature hot and up-and-coming talents as well as old favorites.

Now in its 14th year, the Festival Village will once again span across the York campus to include major walkways and throughfares for their festival village, and even the Rexall Centre for our nighttime concert.

Artists who submit may also be considered to perform on campus through the year at various events.

Genres accepted include rock, alternative rock, progressive and melodic rock, punk, and pop (all acts must be original). Bands must provide their own sound equipment and musical instruments, as there is no backline available. One Wednesday a month, the Palmetto Acoustic Series at Muddy Waters Coffee Bar in West Ashley, SC will host an open mic night as a forum for aspiring performing songwriters of all levels and ability. The evenings are hosted by local musician Aaron Levy of Charleston's White Rhino.

The event consists of both local and national acts, and performers have 2 songs each to make the stage their own. Each act performs two original songs, and a panel of judges chooses three finalists. These three are invited back to the stage at the end of the night to perform one more song, and the judges select one winner. Performers are judged in five different areas: songwriting, vocal performance, playing ability, stage presence, and audience response.

Winners receive a cash prize and a slot in the Bi-Annual Open Mic Shootout.

Players may only be signed up for one future Monday time slot at a time. Keep in mind that many open mic players may book their next open mic gig when they come in for their performance, so slots may fill up quickly.

The Rules:

There is a $3 cover per performer at the door.
Each act must be limited to three players per act.
No effects (i.e., looping, pedals, fire batons, etc.) nor amps are allowed. We provide vocal mics, direct input plugs for guitars and keyboards, and have mics on hand for instruments without pickups.
No full drum kits - only scaled down or hand-held percussion is allowed.
Performers must confirm their spot, on the day of the show palacoom@gmail.com or the slot is forfeited to a player on the standby list.
Performers must check in for their slot 30 minutes prior to their scheduled playing time.
Because "playing ability" is a judging criteria, all music must be played live. CD Accompaniment Tracks are not allowed
