Sonicbids Recently Added Opportunities

Sonicbids is a simple alternative to the endless clutter of physical press kits that is exchanged daily between musicians and the people who promote music. Our main product is the Sonicbids Electronic Press Kit (EPK). It's an easy-to-use, web-based graphic interface that contains all the basic information of a musical act such as music, photos or date calendar. The EPK can either be emailed to anyone with a click of the mouse or submitted in online promoter accounts through a virtual "Drop Box". Our success lies in the fact that we appeal to both sides of the musical spectrum: the people who make music and the people who promote it. We help musicians cut promotion costs, look professional and increase exposure; and we help event promoters by enabling them to take online submissions in minutes and by making their job simpler.

American Songwriter Amateur Lyric Contest (Sep-Oct '13)
Deadline: Jul 15, 2013 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

American Songwriter magazine sponsors a bi-monthly Amateur Lyric Contest, established in 1984. The contest is open to any amateur songwriters of all genres, but no music-only lyrics are needed. The winning lyrics, along with the three runners-up, will be printed in their entirety in the coinciding issues of American Songwriter magazine. 10-12 honorable mentions from the contests will be credited in each issue as well. All winners and honorable mentions will also be posted on AmericanSongwriter.com on the day (or before) each issue hits newsstands.

"Honestly the American Songwriter contest was one of the best things to happen in my career as a musician."

"I have been a fan of [Jim Lauderdale's] for so long, that I'll count it as one of the great experiences of my life just to sit and work with him."

"As far as the American Songwriter folks ... some of the finest people I have met. [They] are doing such a great thing ... what they are doing in every issue is something that is completely unique, and I don't know of another magazine that is writing about such a vast collection of artists and performers. I can say that they are a vital part of American music. I don't know where we could turn without it."

Plot summary:
A compelling new TV series, written by one of Hollywood's most respected film writers/directors, focuses on that very significant human gesture: the connection between individuals and how we are all interconnected in ways not even known to us. Taking place in one restaurant, each week we eavesdrop on a new coupling, with one character from the previous episode sitting down in conversation with someone new from his or her life. We witness two distinct moments from each person's world, following these threads of connective tissue through each episode all the way to our logical yet unexpected season finale.

It's time to reach out to the world with your music! And here is your chance to do it... for free!

Tinderbox Music, a full service promotions firm, is offering a free promotional campaign to one talented winner! The prize package will include national radio promotion to 300 CMJ formatted radio stations, TV licensing opportunities with 30+ TV shows, a 50 piece press campaign and the manufacturing of all of the necessary promotional product: A promotional campaign worth well over $5000!!!

In the past few years, Tinderbox has played an integral role in helping bands such as Ingrid Michaelson, Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, and Gentlemen Hall Light A Fire under their careers... isn't it your time to Light A Fire under your career?

Tinderbox Music is based in Minneapolis, MN and has been representing bands for over a decade. The eight members of Tinderbox's staff collectively have over 70 years of music industry experience across almost every area of the music industry. Tinderbox pursues press, tour support, music licensing and distribution for a limited roster of acts each year. Fundamentally though, Tinderbox is hired as a promoter on behalf of bands to represent them to both college and community radio (The CMJ Format) on a national basis. Since opening for business in 2000, Tinderbox has charted 300+ bands in the highly coveted CMJ Top 200, with a majority of these bands being self-released.

Additionally, Tinderbox Music has placed nearly 1,000 songs in the past seven years to these shows: Grey's Anatomy, Chuck, The O.C., Men in Trees, Six Feet Under, The L Word, The Real World, The Hills, Bad Girls Club, Buckwild, and many, many others. Tinderbox also has several unique network relationships that they do whole album content music clearance for. The Discovery Network and NASCAR Productions are two current examples. Most of Tinderbox's licensing opportunities are non-exclusive and quite often Tinderbox does not re-title the works.

In 2011, Tinderbox started a dedicated Hip Hop department. Last year at radio, it achieved 14 Top TEN CMJ chartings! Tinderbox's Hip Hop department has already charted 8 acts since the beginning of 2013. One Tinderbox artist Jahshua Smith reached #1 for two weeks in a row! Other notable artists include; The Herbaliser, The Extremities, Ghettosocks, Ecid, and Kristoff Krane.

19th Annual NJ Folk Festival Singer-Songwriter Showcase

19th Annual NJ Folk Festival Singer-Songwriter Showcase
Deadline: Jan 20, 2014 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The New Jersey Folk Festival, the oldest continuously held folk festival in New Jersey, will host its 19th annual Singer-Songwriter Showcase during the 40th annual event on Saturday April 26, 2014 on the Woodlawn on the Douglass campus of Rutgers, the State University, in New Brunswick, NJ.

While the primary focus of the festival is indigenous folk forms passed down via family, home, and community traditions, they like to recognize regional folk artists in an effort to foster and encourage these "new" folk singer-songwriters in their contemporary society. Should you be selected, you will be afforded the opportunity to present your original material to a large, diversified audience of more than 16,000 attendees.

This day-long FREE, not-for-profit event features four stages of music, dance, workshops, crafts, children's activities and food. Judging will be done by an impartial panel and will be based on originality of lyrics and melody, as well as vocal quality.

At least six winners will be selected to perform 20 minute sets each on the festival's Shore Stage, will receive a $50 honorarium, and will be included in the festival program.

They are particularly interested in songs about the State of New Jersey. Though New Jersey has a diverse musical culture and history, it does not have a state song. In fact, it is the only state that does not have a state song. They want to encourage singer/songwriters to develop material about New Jersey. Coming up with a song about New Jersey is not easy. New Jersey is immensely diverse, but it is difficult to come up with a unifying theme, with something that typifies it. New Jersey Folk Festival hopes you welcome the challenge.

Artists will also be allowed to sell CDs and distribute information at the festival's Folk Marketplace, with the artist retaining 100% of the profits from sales. Genres accepted include all traditional folk and traditional Americana.

Please note: This contest is open to singer-songwriters who have never before performed at the New Jersey Folk Festival. All entries must reflect original words and music---no instrumentals. Each artist must submit music and lyrics for three songs. All songs on the entry must be sung by the author. If selected, each artist agrees to perform only his or her own original material. No residency restrictions apply. Artists must agree to and be able to appear at the New Jersey Folk Festival to retain status as a winner.
