Sonicbids Recently Added Opportunities

Sonicbids is a simple alternative to the endless clutter of physical press kits that is exchanged daily between musicians and the people who promote music. Our main product is the Sonicbids Electronic Press Kit (EPK). It's an easy-to-use, web-based graphic interface that contains all the basic information of a musical act such as music, photos or date calendar. The EPK can either be emailed to anyone with a click of the mouse or submitted in online promoter accounts through a virtual "Drop Box". Our success lies in the fact that we appeal to both sides of the musical spectrum: the people who make music and the people who promote it. We help musicians cut promotion costs, look professional and increase exposure; and we help event promoters by enabling them to take online submissions in minutes and by making their job simpler.

Discovering the Undiscovered is a monthly contest to help promote the discovery of good music. Each month FILTER will choose one artist to rally behind. Using FILTER's resources to bring credible attention to the winning artist, the following properties will be leveraged for the duration of one month and the selected artist will receive:

An option for a digital recording contract with Filter US Recordings

FILTER's 12 city newsletters (LA, NYC, SF, DC, Boston, Chicago, Philly, Austin, Dallas, Portland, Seattle, Denver) will feature the Artist's bio and mp3 as the pick of the week for download.

The winning artist will be featured across filter-mag.com, including: news items, video (if available), digital downloads, album picks, and reviews, as well as a bio feature within the Discovering the Undiscovered blog. For a rundown of 2008 winners, check here. .</il>

A special ad will be created for the winning artist and featured in FILTER Magazine and/or the Good Music Guide

Click Through banner ads will also be created and present on Filter's online properties to heighten awareness for the FILTER's Band of the Month

In addition, 5 runners-up will receive a 1-year subscription to Filter.

Through these efforts FILTER will provide an avenue for awareness for undiscovered bands so fans gain awareness of the artist's music; thus generating a buzz and opening doors for more opportunities within the music industry.

Click here to check out an interview with Samantha Feld from Filter, as she talks about the DTU program, the submissions they receive and what bands are doing right and wrong when they submit.

The only requirement for selection is that the artist has some sort of body of recordings. Existing press is a plus but not required.

The only requirement for selection is that the artist has some sort of body of recordings. Existing press is a plus but not required.

Tyler from Banter Records said this to say, on behalf of The Antiques and City Lights:
"Two of our artists were honored with the "Discovering the Undiscovered" feature in Filter Magazine - The Antiques and City Light. The Antiques especially benefited from this and headlined a Barker Block show in LA that was sponsored by Filter. This feature ultimately led to Filter US Recordings co-releasing The Antiques' album "Cicadas" and really taking them to the next level. We are a small label and I think this proves that Sonicbids really works to get artists of all sizes heard and given the respect they deserve!"

Nive Nielsen had this to say:
My experience with Filter was absolutely great - maybe the best one I've had so far, in terms of Sonicbids applications. They contacted and helped me make a banner etc. I wrote a bunch of times with questions, and got a prompt, patient and helpful reply immediately. The best part about being selected is it got me a lot of attention - increase in web hits, but also after Filter, we got picked up by several blogs and now the article is quoted in other magazines. But maybe the really best part was that I felt validated as a musician. I read Filter myself, and they wanted to spend some time on what I do. It gave me a huge confidence boost. It gives me more credibility as a serious musician with songs that are worth hearing.

Amelia Dunaway said:
"Being selected for 'Discovering the Undiscovered' has definitely given me the leverage to further promote my music that only a magazine feature can provide. It's so difficult these days to get the attention of a publication, particularly for new and emerging artists, so I think it's rad that Filter is making it a point to feature underground music. They have been professional, responsive, and have kept me in mind whenever a licensing opportunity has come up. Filter's 'Discovering the Undiscovered' is a stepping stone that has already proven to be great exposure, and will continue to be."

Caitlin Gutenberger of Two Sheds had this to say about their experience:
"After our submission was accepted, Filter contacted us personally to say how much they enjoyed our music and expressed interest in signing us to their label. We've since put out an EP through them, played some cool Filter Presents shows and had a chance to play the Filter Party at Cedar St. during SXSW 2008. They've also hooked us up with some great promo opportunities, and they help us with publicity and marketing."

Peter from Backlight Records had this to say, on behalf of Holler, Wild Rose:
"The FILTER feature was an invaluable vote of confidence in the band's music and has absolutely opened doors for others to experience their sound. We're very grateful for the exposure... as we continue to reach out to a larger audience."

For more info, visit: http://www.filter-mag.com

Hi-Dive - Denver, CO (Nov '09-Feb '10)

Hi-Dive - Denver, CO (Nov '09-Feb '10)
Deadline: Feb 5, 2010 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

Hi-Dive has consistently been voted the best rock club in Denver, CO (see for yourself here).

The space now occupied by the Hi-Dive has had a varied and illustrious history. In the 1970's, the bar was called the Ellsworth Tavern. It was only one room and was one of many small dives located along Broadway from Second Avenue to Alameda. Broadway had been on the decline and cheap drinks attracted a fairly rough crowd.

The Eighties brought no relief. After the oil bust, many small businesses were forced to sell or simply went out of business. In 1983, two brothers bought the Ellsworth Tavern, cleaned it up and changed the name. They called their new bar Seven South. Their goal was to attract a more youthful clientele and get rid of the winos and bums that frequented the old establishment. Their plan worked. Seven South became a "cool" place for Capitol Hill residents, musicians and artists to hang out. But it was still only one room. The brothers had had their eyes on the space directly to the south of them for some time, and when the business there finally folded, they got an opportunity to expand. They broke through the wall and added a stage to the new and larger room.

Bands started playing seven south and the popularity of the place grew. Denver had few small venues to cater to emerging artists, but in a matter of a few short years, Seven South became the place to play and managed to stay on the cutting edge of music for nearly twenty years.

In 2000, Seven South was sold and turned in to a jam band club called Quixote's True Blue. Again, further expansion took place. The business to the north closed up and another wall was torn out. But the new club only lasted two years. The owner sold to focus attention on a bigger venue.

The Hi-Dive opened November 19, 2003 when a young couple purchased the business. Inspired by years spent living in New York City and the amazing talent and creativity of Denver scenesters, the hi-dive has quickly become one of the most important new venues in town and the only place for hip new bands to be heard and seen. Hi-Dive is predominantly a rock club, so please submit accordingly.

Awards:
Best rock club 2008 Westword Magazine
Best rock club 2006 Westword Magazine
Best rock club 2005 Westword Magazine
Indie Week Toronto 2010

Indie Week Toronto 2010
Deadline: Jun 18, 2010 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

INDIE WEEK CANADA is an unique international music festival looking for the next big thing to bring to Ireland. Industry professionals from fields ranging from A&R, booking, labels, legal, management, press, and production, judge each artist showcase to determine which band is the "best of the fest." The prize is unlike any other: a partial-expenses paid trip overseas to perform for INDIE WEEK IRELAND 2011.

INDIE WEEK IRELAND is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tour the country with high-calibre Irish acts and to perform for Irish music-industry professionals.

INDIE WEEK prides itself on being an artist-friendly festival dedicated to providing valuable networking and exposure opportunities. Having industry judges at showcases ensures industry in the room. In the past, artists have gone on to work with producers, managers, booking agents, labels, publicists, and lawyers - all as a result of meeting at INDIE WEEK. Artists must impress!

Vesta Varro (voted best band 2007) acquired a booking agent in Germany and secured showcases in Canadian Music Week and Rogers Spring Music Festival as a result of participating in INDIE WEEK CANADA.

Walter Mitty and the Realists (voted best band 2008) acquired Canadian management and secured a high-profile showcase in Canadian Music Week as a result of their participation in INDIE WEEK. They had this to say:
"For us, playing Indie Week was easily one of the wisest moves we've made as a band. Not only did we get to play to amazing crowds and see numerous deadly bands in some of Toronto's coolest venues, but each show was attended by a variety of industry reps! It's unique in its concept, and we made so many valuable contacts. We are absolutely delighted to have won it...Indie Week is a valuable resource."
http://www.waltermittyandtherealists.com/

The festival is strategically scheduled to take place in October between Pop Montreal, CMJ, and Halifax Pop Explosion, giving international and local acts an opportunity to maximize their touring budgets by taking part in more than one festival during October.

85% of the artists selected will be Sonicbids artists.

INDIE WEEK works with many of Toronto's top downtown venues including The Horseshoe Tavern, Bovine Sex Club, The Hideout, The Cameron House, El Mocambo, Holy Joe's, The Reverb, The Rivoli, and Velvet Underground. Last year, four amazing nights featured 100 high-quality North American and European acts across ten venues.

TESTIMONIAL:
"We submersed ourselves in the culture of Indie Week 2009 and checked out as many venues and bands as we possibly could...Also, we were able to hear feedback about a song on our EP from a panel of judges, which gave us better direction when submitting Press Kits and demos to agencies. Indie Week 2009 surpassed all of our expectations and we hope that we're invited back for 2010!"
- Constant Season
http://www.myspace.com/constantseason

"We played at INDIE WEEK for the first time in 2006. We came back in 2009 and the festival has grown tremendously since then. It was a great experience because we had the chance to meet several people in the industry. It brought new opportunities to our band and it was one of our best shows in Toronto yet. We will come back next year for sure."
- Yanik Rouleau, October Sky
http://www.octobersky.ca/

"Indie Week was an amazing experience allowing us to play cool venues in front of new fans and showcase our talent in front of industry professionals. Going out to watch, support and network with other bands resulted in solid leads on booking our own tours and meeting new friends. Darlings of Chelsea would recommend Indie Week to any bands looking for top notch exposure and a great week of music. Ireland is going to be a blast!"

"INDIE WEEK 2009 was one of the best experiences we have had. There were so many great people involved, we played great venues, made a tonne of excellent industry contacts, and all around had a blast! We would love to be a part of INDIE WEEK 2010 and I would highly recommend this festival to any band."
They're looking to showcase artists of all type with the talent and drive to make it in New York City. If you think you've got that X-factor, give it a shot. Since beginning the podcast in January, they've had thousands of hits to the site.

On New Year's Day 2010, a 24 hour Elvis Marathon will be broadcast... a draft of the schedule can be seen at www.tributetotheking.co.uk
Eighth & Rail - Opelika, AL

Eighth & Rail - Opelika, AL
Deadline: Jun 29, 2010 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

Eighth & Rail is a dessert cafe' and tavern located on South Railroad Avenue in historic downtown Opelika, Alabama. The venue is approximately 9 miles from the University of Auburn's campus in Auburn, AL. Students often come hear music they can't hear in their college town.

Artists are usually booked at least two months in advance. Local draw isn't necessary, but it definitely helps. The venue provides local press links and contacts the artists can work on to help their draw.

Built in 1870, the building has been restored to its Reconstruction-era grandeur where the original pressed-tin ceiling and heart pine floors instill in the visitor an immediate sense of history. The architect, Suzanne Fields, and the owners were meticulous in their attention to detail in this important restoration project.

Reclaimed materials from area houses were used to create an atmosphere of comfort and elegance. Old bricks from the area plantation are now employed as pillars supporting the 18 inch crown molding over the bar area. The result is Old South dragged into the present.

Eighth & Rail has become a must-play venue for traveling musicians, in part, because of the unique setting created on the stage. The stage is lined with a dozen hundred year old doors, which were saved from demolition projects. The aforementioned heart pine and plantation brick complete the seemingly rustic vignette. It is only when an artist begins to play that he or she, along with the audience, will sense that this is no ordinary juke joint.

They have spent the better part of the past few years researching, designing and restoring Eighth & Rail. Inspired by the interiors of some of the great boutique hotels of the world, the goal was to create a place that feels comfortable and elegant, similar to your own living room. They invite you to sit back, relax, and let us make your night out and enjoyable one.

Prominent past performers include Shawn Mullins, Kevin Kinney, Zee Avi (Brushfire Records), Matt Hires, Nathan Angelo, Micah Dalton, Jon Black, David Berkeley, Red Letter Agent, Five Star Iris, Act of Congress.

The typical set length is 90 minutes, starting at 9:30 pm and going to at least 11:00 pm.
This is not another song contest offering cash prizes or gear, the Durango Song Contest is YOUR chance to write a song with a hit-maker.

Two artists, one in each category (Pop/Rock and Country/Americana), will be selected. A maximum of two songs per category will be reviewed. There are separate submissions for each category. Please be conscious of which category you are submitting for.

A panel of music industry professionals will select the winners. The winner in each category will receive free registration in the 2010 Santa Barbara EXPO (a $299 value).
