Sonicbids is a simple alternative to the endless clutter of physical press kits that is exchanged daily between musicians and the people who promote music. Our main product is the Sonicbids Electronic Press Kit (EPK). It's an easy-to-use, web-based graphic interface that contains all the basic information of a musical act such as music, photos or date calendar. The EPK can either be emailed to anyone with a click of the mouse or submitted in online promoter accounts through a virtual "Drop Box". Our success lies in the fact that we appeal to both sides of the musical spectrum: the people who make music and the people who promote it. We help musicians cut promotion costs, look professional and increase exposure; and we help event promoters by enabling them to take online submissions in minutes and by making their job simpler.

X&Y Fest 2010

X&Y Fest 2010
Deadline: Dec 17, 2009 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

Driven Productions, Inc. is proud to present the third annual X&Y Fest on Saturday, February 20th, 2010 from 2:00 - 11PM at Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida. This is the premier music festival for Generations X&Y, featuring 10 bands - 5 Gen X and 5 Gen Y.

This festival will bring together 2 generations over 1 great day of music. Solo artists, duos and groups of all genres are encouraged to apply.

Why perform at X&Y Fest? Bands receive a chance at their share of $500 in prize money, are presented well by a professional stage and sound situation, perform live on an art college campus for art-minded and open-minded students, receive space to sell merch and have the option of having their promotional item (such as a sampler CD, sticker, show flyer, etc.) distributed to all that attend.

The $500 in prize money will be split between the best Gen X band and the best Gen Y band at the festival. Winners will be partially determined by the crowd through votes taken at the festival. Votes placed by crowd members will influence the X&Y Fest staff's final decision.

One criteria for being picked to perform is bands must be able to pre-sell 20 discount tickets to the festival. If they fall short of 20 pre-sold, however, they will not be required to pay for unsold tickets. A band should either be confident they can pre-sell 20 tickets or that they can purchase some or all of them themselves to give away (or sell) to fans, family and friends.

Compensation: Accepted artists will receive $5 for each ticket sold (over 20 tickets in total), whether by pre-sale or walk-up day-of. When a ticket is pre-sold or purchased day-of, the person purchasing the ticket will designate which band they are going to the festival to see perform, allowing that band to receive credit for the ticket purchase.

For more information, please read the FAQ section of the X&Y Fest 2010 website.

For more info, visit: http://www.xyfest.com

Songs From The Hat Blog Reviews

Songs From The Hat Blog Reviews
Deadline: Jan 21, 2010 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Songs From the Hat blog is seeking new music for review. In each update, Shawn Burnette will try and bring what he humbly considers an important song or artist. This is not intended to be the place to find everything you have never heard but should have. The blog's intention is to be approachable. Shawn will leave the brilliant, insightful people to write the technical blog for musicians. He want friends old, new or future to discover or rediscover some tunes.

The blog came about almost by accident. Between running a band and trying to be a father and husband, Shawn doesn't have a whole lot of free time. A friend opened a new bar in New York, and asked him to program the music. Shawn would point out interesting new songs, and the friend would ho home and it it to his iPod. That grew into the idea to start a new blog.

The songs and groups may be familiar or even popular from time to time. No one will like all the music on the blog - that's the point. It is just as important to know what you don't like as it is what you do. Sometimes when you least expect it, those bits and pieces will lead you to some amazing work that you will keep with you for the rest of your life.

For more info, visit: http://songsfromthehat.blogspot.com/

2010 City Showcase - Spotlight London

2010 City Showcase - Spotlight London
Deadline: Jan 29, 2010 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

City Showcase, London's leading festival for new music and fashion attracting international audiences, works with musicians, performers, artists by providing public exposure, advice and mentoring, the crucial contacts that aspiring talent needs and showcasing opportunities. The 2010 City Showcase festival will be held May 5-8 in venues throughout London's West End.

The annual not for profit event that has helped showcase artists, including Keane, Razorlight, Amy Winehouse , Newton Faulkner , Natty, Hot Chip, Scouting for Girls, Sway, Seth Lakeman , N-Dubz, Lady Sovereign and Ray LaMontagne, garnering them all a huge amount of both industry and media attention is launching its biggest ever search for this year's stars.

Keane says about their experience at City Showcase: "It's hard to get anywhere as a band, and the City Showcase gig we played at the Islington Academy in February 2003 was a great opportunity for us to play on a bigger stage than we were used to. At that time we didn't have a record deal, so knowing there was no hope of tour support(!), every decent gig we were offered was a godsend and helped make us a better band."

City Showcase submissions through Sonicbids are open to ALL artists from all over the world and there is at least one slot reserved for a Sonicbids artist from North America. The selected artist will be paid $1000 (half paid upon proof of travel arrangements to Sonicbids, half paid after the performance at City Showcase). Last year City Showcase selected 16 Sonicbids artists. The event covers all types of music from classical to pop, from rock to urban. And all types of performer's from bands to singer songwriters, from solo artists to DJ's.

City Showcase will culminate in a series of live events in venues in London's West End including the legendary Borderline. The event will also host a series of workshops and seminars at The Apple Store, Regent Street, bringing together aspiring talent along with the most influential figures in what is a much reshaped and refreshingly vibrant new music industry.

Please note: Selected artists will be responsible for all associated costs, travel and visas (where required) and must have a valid passport. There will be about one month from the notification date to the start of the festival for selected artists to make travel arrangements (where relevant).

For more info, visit: http://www.cityshowcase.co.uk

Rusty's Surf Ranch - Santa Monica, CA (Nov '09-Feb '10)

Rusty's Surf Ranch - Santa Monica, CA (Nov '09-Feb '10)
Deadline: Feb 18, 2010 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

For over 12 years, Rusty's Surf Ranch in Shas played host to an eclectic mix of rock music, from ska and reggae acts to pop singers to straight up hard-rockers. The fun, casual music venue is located on the world famous Santa Monica Pier and is currently seeking fresh talent to add to its roster for Friday and Saturday night shows.

In addition to being known as a great place for showcasing live music, the 250 capacity venue features an award winning menu, so mellower acts will be booked for earlier time slots to accommodate its dining patrons. The sound and vibe accelerate from there, with each act allotted a 60 minute set to play. Due to draw issues, soloists will generally not be selected and the venue will feature 3 acts per show.

All booking is done 6-8 weeks in advance, with more immediate spots occasionally opening up. Bands will be paid with a percentage of the door after the 11th person, receiving a larger percentage for larger crowds. A great soundman and sound system are available to selected artists along with a limited backline consisting of vocal mics and monitors.

For more info, visit: http://rustyssurfranch.com

Music is Art Again - Space 12 (2010)

Music is Art Again - Space 12 (2010)
Deadline: Jan 19, 2010 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

Space 12 is a fairly new community center on the hip east side of Austin, TX with a quality P.A. and mixer, projection screen, and small lighting system. They have different organizations working out of their space and also put on several shows, exhibits, classes, and other events that involve the community.

For shows, they compensate the artists with a percentage of the door, which is usually 20% per band to allow for 3 bands per show. We've had several local acts but also touring bands such as Will Johnson, Good Night and Good Morning, David Bazan, and WD-41.

While Space 12 isn't genre specific, they are looking for artists that are very involved with their music and treat it as an art form. There are plenty of places to see your standard alternative and blues bands in Austin so they are trying to promote a artsy style of music. They have most dates available and are always BYOB, allowing all Ages.

For more info, visit: http://www.space12.org

"Ability is relative. Talent can be developed through nurturing, or diminish through neglect. Music is an expression of self and spirit available to all who wish to follow its' path, and everyone has an audience for their works. If these statements resonate as true for you, I look forward to welcoming you on a retreat...." Brett Perkins, Founder

Howard Rosen Radio Promotion (Nov '09-Feb '10)
Deadline: Feb 16, 2010 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

So what is Radio Promotion? They're glad you asked! The best way to explain radio promotion is: they get your song played on the radio!

Their staff has years of experience from working at major labels, programming radio stations as well as being in a touring band, and relationships with hundreds of radio stations throughout the country. They also have the resources to monitor how artists are doing at various radio formats. For over 25 years Howard Rosen Promotion, Inc. has been helping artists (both independent and signed) reach their goals of obtaining radio airplay, expanding their fan base, and creating awareness throughout the industry. They have been instrumental in helping some artists find a label to call home.

They have worked with many gold and platinum recording artists including Lenny Kravitz, Hoobastank, Shania Twain, Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Theory of a Deadman, Saving Abel and Bon Jovi. Independent artists they have worked with who have charted on the R&R, FMQB or CMJ magazine charts include: the Cringe, OX, Paul Schneider, Adelayda, Kimberly Locke, Christen J, Buckfast Superbee, Trash Wednesday, Forever Falls, 16 Second Stare, Mikey de Lara, and Ennui.

They work with several radio formats: Top 40, Hot AC, AC, Alternative Specialty, College, AAA and Rock. Currently, these include satellite and internet stations in our campaigns. Take a minute to check out our website to find more in depth information on radio promotion, as well as the other areas of radio and music we handle such as video promotion, distribution, and CD manufacturing.

Additional fees for their services vary depending on each artist's situation and needs. Each artist campaign is unique therefore it is impossible to build a quote without first hearing an artist's music. Any submission received through Sonicbids will receive a discount toward their campaign.

If you want to join a winning roster of artists, submit today!

For more info, visit: http://www.howiewood.com

"I have attended every year since the beginning, FMF is so much easier to check out bands and meet and network with people than it is at SXSW or CMJ."
- Steve Robertson (Atlantic Records VP of A&R: Shindeown/Paramore)

THE FILM & VISUAL ARTS:
THE TESTIMONIALS:
"Black Tide's ear seering showcase at FMF06 go them attention from A&R (Interscope) and the Prince of Darkness himself (Ozzfest 07 Tour)!"
- SPIN Magazine/Feb Issue

"That was Taylor Swift's first industry showcase, it was impressive to see a 14 year old perform with such confidence for more than 150 industry reps!"
- David McKenna/Bonded Records

"This is one of my favorite conferences of the year"
- Ron Burman/Roadrunner Records

"Festivals like this are necessity to bring the music fans together with great unknown and unsigned bands that they might otherwise never take a chance on..."
- Stephen Jenkins/Third Eye Blind

"I can't wait to attend and host the conferences at the Florida Music Festival, it's a great time and very productive!"
- Allison Hagendorf/FUSE TV Host

*Please note* All submitting artists will receive a laminate for each band member to attend the conferences panels and artist only events. Artists that have submitted and are selected will receive passes for all 15 venues for the day of their showcase only.
